Stressed out

Posted in News and Updates on October 19th, 2008 by admin

Stress bites! Commuting long distances and being away from ones that you love is hard. Being alone for days at a time with nothing more than listening to Podcasts gets old. Sitting in the love field airport in Dallas just killing time until heading back to Houston.

Ike, you suck!

Posted in Uncategorized on September 18th, 2008 by admin

While I wait out Ike’s after math here in Dallas, I have to wait till we get electricity back online. The national guard is currently out front watching over our complex due to it’s proximity to the galleria of Houston.

Working on more projects than I can handle. Trying to over haul a corporate wireless bills in Canada and it is very frustrating. Canada refuses to compete on rates like the US.

Hello Calgary!

Posted in News and Updates on August 18th, 2008 by admin

Ten hours to go! First trip up to Canada. Looking forward to seeing our old friends from Houston who moved back to Canada. Get to also meet our Canadian subsidary for the first time.

Packing for this trip has been a real challenge. Highest highs are in the low 90’s while the lowest highs will be in the 60’s by the end of the week. While getting the house packed, my wife packed all of my blue jeans. So staying warm and comfy will be reduced to slacks this trip.

Back to the ten hours. By the time I got here at 6 am, leave at 8 am, get to Houston and fly on out at 11 am. I won’t be in Calgary until 3:20 pm cst. Okay, so that is only nine and half hours. Unfortunately, when you wake up at 4 am and didn’t get to sleep until 1 am your day really starts to drag. Here’s a rule that congress should pass along with their really dumb ass laws. There either should be a starbucks open two hours before the earliest flight, a starbucks in every airport, or no flights until one opens.

Boarding is starting to my first leg of this 2,440 mile trip so I’m signing off and hope all is well. And remeber that chance always favors the prepared mind.

PHD WIN Class

Posted in Uncategorized on July 27th, 2008 by admin

Back in class. This time it’s PHDWIN software. Basically a reporting software for reserves to measure the remaining supply of oil still in the ground.

Companies use this to get loans to borrow against for extra working capital. Like new equipment or pay down on existing debt. Some will use this to evaluate a property to sell or buy.

Iphone 2.0

Posted in News and Updates on July 26th, 2008 by admin

Well the stores have replenished and it is time to go get the next iPhone. Did you know that apple’s website actually says what stores have which type of the new phones?

Here shortly I will or will not get the next version. I hear mixed reports on the new version. Mobile me doesn’t work very well and the activation process still takes to long. My current iPhone got slower with the new 2.0 software. Was waiting for new update to see if it was worth the upgrade. After all, I have been writing the last three post from the new iPhone app wordpress which is actually easier then the web based version.

Touchdown Dallas

Posted in News and Updates on July 25th, 2008 by admin

Just landed in Dallas. Stopping by my old hunting ground to return some stuff and get ready for weekend to do lists on my house. Maybe catch a look at the new “the dark night”. I plan on working on a new Podcast soon. I found a really good set of topics to speed up sorting good email from junk mail and making it without an exchange server when on the go with a free app from google.

Teavel lessons

I am still learning to get this light travel thing down. With every new airport, there really a new procedure. Today I went to get another paasort renewed after my corgi chewed up my last one that was put under the door by the postman. So today I go to the usps and fill out new forms. However, when I call the hotline to make sure that I have everything they tell me that must have a copy of my birth certificate. Turns out that was wrong. All I needed was the chew toy, driver license, a check for the us state department, and two pictures. Then I have to fill out a piece of paper to actually admit that my dog tried to eat it. Recommend going online to www.state.gov to fill our the wizard passport form. Best thing the us government ever made.

Now I have to give the TSA a bonus. The three grades of travelers is a huge improvement. Frequent travelers now can fly by those familes of twelve with strollers and all the wrong things to bring on the plan. Unforunately I am guilty of bringing the wrong things on board. I always carry water bottels with me so I always forget. It stinks that I drive and fly because I have to pack differently. That three ounce rule sucks so if I have to stay anywhere longer than a week I have to check a bag. Naturally my dob kit is always a potential infraction waiting to happen. I think it would be a good idea to find a storage locker near by to store your 3+ ounce bottles, yeah right!

Well I am getting ready to board so I will ad more on Monday when I’m in my next airport.

Vegas Bound

Posted in News and Updates on July 7th, 2008 by admin

Ever wonder how much you can cram into your brain?  Well that’s my new goal.  I have to take a class just about every two weeks.  This week I am bound for Las Vegas for an SEC class. After two days, I am supposed to be able to know the in’s and out’s of the securities and exchane commision with publically traded companies.  This will be a 180 from two weeks ago where I had to sit in a classroom for three days to educate myself on the equipment in the oil industy.

Well hell has frozen!

Grab the cliche book, because as of 5:00 pm Friday I am no longer working for flash.  The details are still in the dark, but lets say I will be having a lot of traveling in my future.  My cell and my email address is the only way you will get a hold of me for the next three to six months.

I will get out the details as they come, but just wanted to get it out there.  Have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing my friends a whole lot more.

Sincerely,

Larry
